Aron Hsiao is a former writer for The Balance who contributed 226 articles in more than nine years. He began selling on eBay in 1998 and joined the site's Trust and Safety Department in 2003, helping to resolve buyer and seller conflicts and marketplace rules violations. From 2013 through 2017, he served as senior communications manager for Terapeak, which offers marketplace research and listing analytics to online sellers.

Hsiao earned a doctorate in the sociology of media from New School University in 2014 and a master's in social sciences from the University of Chicago in 2004. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Utah in 2001.


 Aron Hsiao received a double B.A. in English from the University of Utah. He later went on to receive his M.A. in social sciences, and his Ph.D. of the sociology of media.
